Description

A delicious cheesy sandwich packed with ground beef, onions, and garlic, perfect for a quick meal!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 slices bread (preferably white or sourdough)
  • 8 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter, for grilling

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Beef:
    • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
    • Add minced garlic and cook for another minute.
    • Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until browned.
    • Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
    • Season the beef mixture with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well to combine.
  2. Assemble the Sandwiches:
    • Lay out the bread slices on a flat surface.
    • Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each slice of bread.
    • Evenly distribute the cooked ground beef mixture over 4 slices of bread.
    • Top the beef with another slice of cheddar cheese.
    • Place the remaining slices of bread on top to form a sandwich.
  3. Grill the Sandwiches:
    • Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a bit of butter.
    • Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted, about 3-4 minutes per side. Press down gently with a spatula for even grilling.
  4. Serve:
    • Remove the sandwiches from the skillet and let them cool slightly.
    • Slice each sandwich in half and serve warm.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a tablespoon of chopped fresh herbs like thyme or parsley to the beef mixture.
  • Use a mix of cheeses like mozzarella and American cheese for a different flavor profile.
  • Serve with a side of pickles or a simple salad to balance the richness of the melt.
  • You can use a panini press for a quicker grilling process.
