Description
Delicious churros filled with cream cheese and flavored with chocolate sandwich cookies.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos)
- Oil for frying
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1/2 cup cream cheese
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Churro Dough: In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, sugar, salt, and vegetable oil. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the flour and crushed chocolate cookies until the mixture forms a ball.
- Shape the Churros: Transfer dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4-inch strips of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Fry the Churros: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large frying pan to 375°F (190°C). Fry the churros in small batches until golden brown, turning them occasionally, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Coat the Churros: Roll the churros in granulated sugar until well-coated.
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Filling: In a bowl, beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth. Transfer the mixture to a piping bag with a small round tip.
- Fill the Churros: Once churros are cooled slightly, pipe the cream cheese mixture into the centers by poking a small hole in each end.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, make sure the oil is at the correct temperature before frying.
- You can experiment with different fillings or toppings such as melted chocolate or caramel sauce.
- Ensure the cream cheese filling is smooth to make piping easier and to prevent clogging.
