Description
Enjoy creating this festive treat and adding a touch of holiday cheer to your table!
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup white chocolate chips
- Green fondant
- Red fondant
- Silver and clear sugar decorations or edible glitter (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Rice Krispie Mix: In a large saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Add the mini marshmallows into the melted butter and stir until completely melted and smooth. Remove from heat and mix in the cocoa powder until well integrated.
- Combine with Cereal: Gently fold the Rice Krispies cereal into the marshmallow mixture until all cereal is evenly coated.
- Shape the Treats: Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then lightly grease your hands with butter. Shape small handfuls of the mixture into balls, similar in size to small ornaments or truffles, and place them on wax paper to set.
- Decorate: Melt white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second increments, stirring until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over each Rice Krispie ball to create a “snowy” top. Roll out green fondant and cut into small holly leaf shapes. Roll small red fondant balls to resemble berries. Place a few leaves and berries on top of each treat, adhering them with a small dab of melted chocolate if necessary.
- Set and Serve: Allow the treats to set completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator for faster setting. Serve on a festive platter with sugar decorations as an optional garnish.
