Description

A delicious grilled beef filet served with a balsamic garlic sauce, mashed potatoes, and sautéed mushrooms.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 beef filet mignons (about 6 oz each)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish
  • Mashed potatoes, for serving
  • Sautéed mushrooms, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Pat the beef filets dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Grill the Filets: Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the filets with olive oil. Grill the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer to your preferred doneness.
  3. Make the Sauce: In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in the beef stock and balsamic vinegar. Stir well, bringing to a simmer. Cook until the sauce reduces by half, about 5 minutes.
  4. Combine and Serve: Once the steaks are done, let them rest for a few minutes off the heat. Serve the filets on a plate, drizzled with the balsamic garlic sauce. Plate with a side of mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. Garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, let the beef filets sit in the fridge seasoned with salt and pepper for at least an hour before cooking.
  • If you prefer, you can add some red wine to the pan sauce for more depth.
  • Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the steaks for added precision.
  • Ensure the filets are at room temperature before grilling for even cooking.
