Description
A delicious grilled beef filet served with a balsamic garlic sauce, mashed potatoes, and sautéed mushrooms.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 beef filet mignons (about 6 oz each)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- Fresh parsley, for garnish
- Mashed potatoes, for serving
- Sautéed mushrooms, for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef: Pat the beef filets dry with paper towels. Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- Grill the Filets: Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush the filets with olive oil. Grill the steaks for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer to your preferred doneness.
- Make the Sauce: In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Pour in the beef stock and balsamic vinegar. Stir well, bringing to a simmer. Cook until the sauce reduces by half, about 5 minutes.
- Combine and Serve: Once the steaks are done, let them rest for a few minutes off the heat. Serve the filets on a plate, drizzled with the balsamic garlic sauce. Plate with a side of mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms. Garnish with fresh parsley.
Notes
- For extra flavor, let the beef filets sit in the fridge seasoned with salt and pepper for at least an hour before cooking.
- If you prefer, you can add some red wine to the pan sauce for more depth.
- Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the steaks for added precision.
- Ensure the filets are at room temperature before grilling for even cooking.
