Instructions
- Activate the yeast by combining warm water and sugar in a bowl. Sprinkle yeast on top and let sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Create a well in the center.
- Pour the activated yeast mixture and olive oil into the well, stirring gently until just combined.
- Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Fold in the shredded cheese and optional herbs until evenly distributed.
- Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover it with plastic wrap or a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot until doubled, about 1 hour.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Shape dough into a loaf or rolls, place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
