Description

A delicious breakfast treat with sausage and bread rolled up and cooked to a golden brown.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 links breakfast sausage
  • 8 slices sandwich bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • Butter or oil for frying
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook or reheat sausage links until browned and cooked through. Set aside.
  2. Trim crusts off bread slices and flatten with a rolling pin.
  3. Place a sausage at the edge of a bread slice and roll tightly. Seal seam side down.
  4. In a shallow bowl, whisk eggs, milk, cinnamon, vanilla, and sugar.
  5. Dip each roll-up quickly into the egg mixture, coating all sides.
  6. Heat a skillet with butter or oil over medium heat.
  7. Cook roll-ups until golden brown on all sides, about 2–3 minutes per side.
  8. Serve warm with syrup and optional powdered sugar.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add some nuts or fruit as a side.
  • These can be made ahead of time and reheated in the morning.
