Description

A rich and flavorful gravy made with turkey drippings, perfect for your holiday meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/4 cup turkey fat (from drippings)
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups turkey drippings and broth combined
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon thyme, rosemary, or onion powder

Instructions

  1. After roasting the turkey, pour the drippings into a measuring cup and let the fat rise to the top. Skim off and reserve 1/4 cup of fat.
  2. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the reserved turkey fat or butter. Whisk in the flour to create a roux and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in the combined turkey drippings and broth, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
  4. Bring to a simmer and continue to whisk until the gravy thickens to your liking, about 5-10 minutes.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and optional herbs. Serve hot.

Notes

  • This gravy can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
