A delicious and visually stunning triple layer Neapolitan cake featuring vanilla, strawberry, and chocolate flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp strawberry extract
  • 2 drops red food coloring
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pink food coloring, optional
  • Chocolate syrup for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cake Layers: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line three 8-inch cake pans.
  2. Vanilla Cake Layer: In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract; beat until well combined. Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt; add to wet mixture alternating with milk. Pour into one of the prepared pans.
  3. Strawberry Cake Layer: Repeat the vanilla cake layer steps, substituting strawberry extract and adding red food coloring.
  4. Chocolate Cake Layer: Repeat the vanilla cake layer steps, adding cocoa powder to the flour mixture.
  5. Bake: Bake each layer for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack.
  6. Frosting: Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Add pink food coloring if desired. Frost between the layers and around the cake.
  7. Assembly: Layer the cakes: chocolate on the bottom, followed by vanilla, then strawberry. Generously spread frosting between each layer and cover the cake. Drizzle chocolate syrup on the side for decoration.

Notes

  • Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for better mixing.
  • Use a serrated knife to level the cake layers if needed.
  • Chill the cake before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the frosting by modifying the amount of powdered sugar.
